    Where does the time go?

This web site has turned out to be a lot more work than I thought. I spend hours every day reading other peoples blogs, looking for ideas for my own site, and thinking about what to write. So much time that sometimes I never actually get around to working on my own posts! And the technical stuff, argh! I really need to take a computer class or twelve. I have been reading books, looking online, and watching youtube videos. And to top it all off my brother who lives in Washington State, stationed at Fort Lewis is down for a visit. Today is Saturday and I have a family bbq so it is not looking good for working much. Thank goodness there is always Monday. :)

FDA approved Home Laser Hair Removal

photo_4712_20090220How exciting is this?! Finally, a home laser hair removal system! The Tria Beauty Home Laser Hair Removal System has been approved by the FDA to remove hair permanently for home use. The results are comparible to the salon treatments but at $795.00 it cost thousands of dollars less. Here’s the skinny:

    • The TRIA laser uses the same diode technology as professional lasers, with comparable power levels, and it was developed by the same scientists who invented the professional technology back in 1993.
    • No prescription necessary, and only 6-8 treatments over the course of 6-8 months are needed to achieve complete hair removal results.
    • Use anywhere (suitable) below the neck. Can you say bikini time?
    • As with all laser hair removal treatments, certain skin types and hair colors are not suitable, but the great thing about the system is that it’s equipped with a skin sensor that allows you to test each area on the body you intend to treat for suitability prior to each treatment.

    “Flower Therapy” helps Britney Spears

The latest “buzz” on Britney Spearsis that she is using Flower Therapy thru gardening to help with her mental well being.  Gardening is certainly good for your mental health and overall well being and is a great way to burn calories. However, Flower Therapy is not the same thing as gardening. Flower Therapy is a therapeutic system that uses dilutions of flower essences developed by Dr.Edward Bach to balance physical and emotional disturbances, while gardening is, well, gardening. Gardening is certainly an excellent addition to anyones mental health protocol.

    Swine Flu, a simple answer

When I heard about this on the news, my heart fell into my shoes! Of course all of my government conspiracy flags went up, lol, and I immediately started to look into what could I do naturally to prevent or treat this. My first thought of course was booting the immune system. But my research has found some troubling information (called a “cytokine storm“)about how a healthy immune system could somehow be a bad thing in regards to certain types of the flu. (I wont go into that in this post because it is not a simple explanation and I don’t fully understand it myself.) The good news is I have found something that is simple to help us with this pandemic. Black Elderberry Syrup, with the brand name Sambucol. I have actually used this for the flu before, about 1 1/2 years ago and it was amazing. Now this stuff is expensive, and my sources are saying that the formula has changed from the original so Maybe it is not as effective anymore, but don’t fret, I have found a recipe to make it yourself at home for just a fraction of the cost! For the recipe click on the link below.

    Ugh! Not Another Cold Sore!

Those were the words I had to utter on Wednesday of this week. Just in case things weren’t bad enough I had to develop quite the violent cold sore the size of a quarter. Not on my lip, mind you, but on my face just under my lip on the left side. Unfortunately I did not act quickly enough to stop it in its tracks so I must pay the consequences, but for those of you who act fast there are a few things that can be done treat if not prevent cold sores from ever popping up.

    Twitter explained

Finally! I found an awesome article explaining exactly what Twitter is!  Now the real question is, do I dare Tweet? Stay tuned to find out.

    Say goodbye to cellulite!

Does that sound too good to be true? Unfortunately the only thing to completely eliminate the dreaded cottage cheese looking abomination is surgery, but don’t fret, their is hope. You can definitely reduce it, and make it look a whole lot better. Cleaning up your diet is the first step. Start by cutting out sugary sweets, and those high calorie processed carbs. Eating food as close as they are in nature is the key.

I found this fascinating article that had a different look at the causes of cellulite . A woman”s connective tissue, called septa, is very rigid  therefore the underlying fat squeezes through the holes causing the rippled orange peel effect. Apparently the antioxidants in fruits and vegetables loosens the septa and reducing the cellulite. Supplementing with antioxidants can also help but should not take the place of whole foods.

And don’t forget good ‘ole exercise! Cardio and weight lifting has long been known to reduce fat and tone muscle to further help with your fight against the bulge! Check out my exercise fav.
