Every single cell in the body has an iodine receptor. That means every cell in your body needs iodine to function properly. All glands (thyroid, adrenal, etc.) especially need iodine for the production of hormones. The soil in the US is iodine deficient. The Great Lakes region has some of the lowest soil iodine levels in the world.

Dr. David Brownsteinis an expert on iodine deficiency and has a very successful practice treating patients with a natural iodine supplement. Women need more iodine that men, and women with large breasts need more iodine than women with small breasts.

What does this iodine deficiency cause? You will be shocked to learn that an iodine deficiency causes fatigue, fibrocystic breast disease (which I had), breast cancer, thyroid cancer, hypo-hyper- thyroidism, uterine fibroids, goiters, Graves Disease, Hashimoto’s Disease, and impaired immune system function. Iodine deficiency during pregnancy can lead to miscarriages and reduced IQ in surviving offspring.

If iodine/iodide are so crucial in the body, why hasn’t there been more research studies published? Dr. Brownstein believes that because iodine cannot be patented there is no incentive for the drug companies to perform the research. And it always comes down to money.

What about salt? Isn’t it supplemented with iodine? Iodized salt and the iodine supplements usually found in health food stores contain the iodide form of iodine and the body needs both iodine and iodide.

Am I deficient? A quick and easy test: get some iodine from your local drugstore, Walmart, whatever. You know, the stuff in the little bottle. “Paint” a spot on your wrist 2 inches around (doesn’t have to be exact). Check the time, write it down. Now check and see how fast it fades away. If it is under 4 hours, you are severely deficient. If it stays put (a little fading is normal) you are not deficient.

So what should I do? Of course there is a simple solution! The supplement Iodoral contains both the iodide (reduced) and iodine (oxidized) forms of iodine. The dosage that I took, and still take is 50 mg a day. In 2 months my symptoms were gone, but I could tell I was feeling better after 2 weeks. Some people need to start slow, with 12.5 mg a day, increasing slowly to avoid sudden detox symptoms. You know the saying, sometimes you get worse before you get better.

Where can I get Iodoral?

A natural health practitioner (if you can find one that is familiar with the treatment)

in Winter Haven, Fl Angelic Chiropractic

Online source:Quackcenter.com

Breastcancercoices.org

For lots more information look here and here.

My Personal Story

My mother found a lump in her breast in March of 1997. She went to the doctor and was assured it “was nothing” to be concerned about. It continued to grow and was even painful. Again she was told “not to worry”. Eight months later she was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 1997. In January of 1998 she had a complete mastectomy of her left breast, followed by chemo. She is a survivor, praise Jesus and has been cancer free (except for skin cancer) every since. Move forward to late 2007. I started having extremely painful breasts. I’m talking heavy, achy, shooting pains, swollen lymph nodes painful breasts. Out of nowhere. I freaked out. Went to my gyno and was told I have Fibrocystic breast disease, but don’t worry. Ha Ha. Yeah right. Anyway I prayed about it and the Lord led me to a wonderful Chiropractor, Dr. Bernice Johnson of Angelic Chiropractic. She tested me for Iodine deficiency and low and behold, I was. She put me on 50 mg a day for three months. My symptoms disappeared and I felt fantastic. As a bonus, I had more energy, my sex drive greatly increased (sorry Connie ) much to my husbands delight, and I just felt so much better. I had energy, stamina and even a little bit of “go get ‘em”! Two different times now I have ran out of Iodoral for a few months, and both times I crashed, and crashed hard. I was shocked at how terrible I felt. Tired, exhausted, no energy. Blah. And the sex drive came to a screeching halt, much to my husbands horror. I have had the greatest amount of positive results with the Iodine than with anything else I have ever done for my health. What more can I say? If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I would love to help.

This web site has turned out to be a lot more work than I thought. I spend hours every day reading other peoples blogs, looking for ideas for my own site, and thinking about what to write. So much time that sometimes I never actually get around to working on my own posts! And the technical stuff, argh! I really need to take a computer class or twelve. I have been reading books, looking online, and watching youtube videos. And to top it all off my brother who lives in Washington State, stationed at Fort Lewis is down for a visit. Today is Saturday and I have a family bbq so it is not looking good for working much. Thank goodness there is always Monday.

Finally, a home laser hair removal system! The Tria Beauty Home Laser Hair Removal System has been approved by the FDA to remove hair permanently for home use. The results are comparible to the salon treatments but at $795.00 it cost thousands of dollars less. Here’s the skinny:

The TRIA laser uses the same diode technology as professional lasers, with comparable power levels, and it was developed by the same scientists who invented the professional technology back in 1993.

No prescription necessary, and only 6-8 treatments over the course of 6-8 months are needed to achieve complete hair removal results.

Use anywhere (suitable) below the neck. Can you say bikini time?

As with all laser hair removal treatments, certain skin types and hair colors are not suitable, but the great thing about the system is that it’s equipped with a skin sensor that allows you to test each area on the body you intend to treat for suitability prior to each treatment.
