    Being Frugal is Fabulous

    Can treating MRSA be simple?

If you watch the news these days you have probably heard of MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a staph infection that has became immune to all but the  strongest antibiotics and can be fatal. Children are at an increased risk of not only getting MRSA, but of getting repeated MRSA infections. The two most obvious reasons are that their hygiene leaves much to be desired, and their immune systems have not yet fully developed. Unfortunately the only medical treatment for MRSA is drainage of the MRSA boil, cutting away the infected skin and stronger antibiotics. But a lot of the MRSA infections are picked up in the hospital and doctors are misdiagnosing and not treating MRSA correctly. So what are we to do? The good news is there are natural alternatives for treating and even preventing MRSA. The first steps in preventing the contraction and spreading of the MRSA infection are:

    • Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water.

    • Wash bedding often and never share personal items(towels, washcloths, razors, etc.).

    • Keep any open wounds covered no matter what the size.

    • Work on strengthening your immune system.
    •

To treat MRSA that you already have Turmeric(yes the spice!) is a wonderful treatment. Just drink 1 stp in warm water 3 x a day. Less effective, but still works, take turmeric capsules, 450-500 mg, 2 x per day.  Continue all tratments for at least 7 days after all symptoms are gone. You can also make a paste and apply directly to the boil or MRSA site and cover with a bandage. With all of your helathcare it is important to know your own body. You know what is “right” and what is not. Take control of your own wellness!
